The Indian Army is the second-largest army by size, and contains a significant amount of high-tech weaponry. However, cutbacks in military funding have hurt overall readiness and equipment quality. Special Operations units in particular are top-quality. Many units have extensive combat experience, and the quality of Russian military leadership is generally considered very good. ![]() The Russian Army is likely the third largest in size (when counting reserves) and has a very large amount of reasonably modern equipment. It also has had extensive combat experience over the last two decades, and so is battle-hardened and combat-tested. It is also very well-rounded, maintaining all-round combat capabilities. It one of (if not the) best trained armies, which an extremely high level of skill at all levels. The U.K.'s Royal Army has probably the second-highest level of technology of all armies, after the US. It suffers from very uneven training quality of its soldiers, a uneven distribution of technology, and significant institutional in-fighting, as well as deficiencies in special operations, airlift/airmobile, and amphibious capabilities. However, it lacks (and will continue to lack) several key features, which means that several other countries can likely make a solid claim to having the world's second-best army. China produces virtually all its own weapons, so it is able to produce large quantities of current-generation (if not cutting-edge) technology. ![]() It is the world's largest army, and is undergoing considerable equipment modernization. Currently, the People's Liberation Army of the People's Republic of China would most likely be considered the second strongest army of 2010. ![]()
